Madrasas under microscope

BBC News, Madrasas 'should face regulation', 14 Oct 09 "Unofficial Islamic schools, many of which use teachers who have not had criminal record bureau checks should be better regulated, an MP has demanded.

"Madrasas are usually attached to a mosque, providing religious instruction in the evenings and at weekends."

This is a long-running issue. I wrote about it in the past, as it was prominent when I was undertaking fieldwork some years ago...
