Cambridge Mosque
Guardian, Inside Cambridge’s new £23m mosque: a forest runs through it
"The new £23m mosque in Mill Road, Cambridge, which will open in the next few weeks, is the most determined attempt yet to build in a way that is of its own place and time. It’s the brainchild of Timothy Winter, also known as Abdal Hakim Murad, a convert to Islam who teaches at the University of Cambridge and is dean of the Cambridge Muslim College. The building, which has room for 1,000 worshippers, will serve the city’s Muslim population in general, as well as Winter’s students. " The project has used social media to publicise its building/funding. Details are here: Cambridge Mosque Project (Twitter). Cambridge Mosque Information . Cambridge Mosque Trust (website).

Timothy Winter profile
The Independent, Timothy Winter: Britain's most influential Muslim - and it was all down to a peach, 20 Aug 2010 "The hitherto unnoticed Mr Winter, who has an office in Cambridge University's Divinity Faculty, where he is the Shaykh Zayed Lecturer of Islamic Studies, has been listed ahead of the presidents of Iran and Egypt, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, and the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, Mahmoud Abbas. "Strange bedfellows," he concedes."

Abdul Hakim Murad
Ali Eteraz, Guardian, 'Comment is free', An imam who can, 17 Mar 09 "Sheikh Abdul Hakim Murad is perhaps the most significant British Muslim leader around. It is too bad that so few people know about him. Now that he has launched the Cambridge Muslim College, which is designed to train "local" specialists in Islamic knowledge who are able to "celebrate their identity" as British and Muslim, he should be given his due and treated like a national asset."
The output of Abdul Hakim Murad (Tim Winter) can be widely found online. Here's Masud's list (also mentioned in Ali Eteraz's article)
